I’ve cycled through the English village of Lacock countless times and it’s one of those places that I always vowed to go back to in order to have a proper look around. With the rain bouncing off the summer patio, today was setup perfectly for it.

Parking was straight forward as it’s owned by The National Trust and that was my reminder to become a member as the fee for my one hour visit was £4.50. I did though spend ten minutes of that walking around the car park trying to encourage Ruby our Cavachon to swap her energetic tugging of the lead for a toilet break but that was unsuccessful.

The village is home to the invention of the photographic negative and therefore it was only apt that I swung my full frame around my neck and blended in with the other anorak wearing anoraks. At least I would be dry.

Half way round we stopped for a sneaky drink in the pub garden of the Red Lion and Ruby had some Dog IPA and sat on my lap soaking up her new audience whilst I scrolled on my phone.

After two laps of the village we were done. Definitely not an in-depth exploration of this beautiful and old village, but enough to whet my appetite for now and to encourage me to go back next time I’m without my bicycle and my dog.
